DataSpartan offers a 12-week programme (between June and August) that provides industrial partners with an opportunity to complete a proof of concept project and allows Master’s students the opportunity to write their thesis on a relevant use case of the material they have been learning in partnership with industry.
The intellectual property is owned by the partner company.
Students can gain insights into the problems that our industrial partners face. Industrial partners can vet the students over a longer term period than a standard interview.
We are flexible regarding logistics – some of our partners prefer the students working on-site and some prefer offsite. It is better for student to work on-site as it allows both the client and the student to get a feel for the culture and it is easier to determine fit.
If a project is particularly complex on the quantitative/computational side
we can provide support from the DataSpartan side.
Students with complementary skills are grouped into teams of 2-4 to complete a thesis project with a company – the group work provides a chance to develop communication and technical skills and prepare them for the workforce.
We work on a low touch basis and student teams are self-sufficient with team leads usually having 2-3 years of work experience. The deliverable is either a piece of research or software that is owned by the partner company.
